The free assessments, which are also available across the central belt, give farmers a report with valuable information on identifying potential areas for tree planting.
The report also includes vital information on which forestry grants are available and financial information on projected income and expenditure.
Will Chadwick, Woodland Creation Officer with Scottish Forestry said:
“We are really pleased that we have been able to extend the areas to receive these free Farm Woodland Assessments to Fife and Stirling in support of the Forth and Fife Climate Forests.
“Planting trees is a great way to add value to an agricultural business. The benefits to a farming business are multiple in that the woodland can provide shelter and shade for livestock, an improvement in biodiversity, and a future wood fuel resource and income stream in the future.”
The Farm Woodland Assessments are totally free and on a no obligation basis.
The assessments can advise on how best to manage a new woodland, right up to the first financial returns from harvesting the trees.
Applicants for a free Farm Woodland Assessment must be within the Central Scotland Green Network area, with an added emphasis within the Forth Climate Forest, Clyde Climate Forest and Fife Climate Forest areas.
To register an interest in a free Farm Woodland Assessment please complete and return the application form on Scottish Forestry’s website.
