Report a suspected unauthorised felling

If you are concerned a tree has been felled without permission, you can report it to us as a suspected unauthorised felling. We will then investigate further.

Important - check whether the felling has been authorised

Before you report a potential unauthorised felling, it's important you check whether the felling was authorised.

You should check for:

  • felling permission with the Scottish Forestry Map Viewer
  • felling exemptions

Reporting a suspected unauthorised felling

If you still have concerns you can report it to us as a suspected unauthorised felling and we will then investigate further.

If the felling is not on the map viewer and is not exempt, then:

  • fill out the unauthorised felling form
  • use our contact form to attach and send your completed form
  • alternatively you can contact us and we can complete this with you over the phone
