Social media guidelines

Scottish Forestry uses LinkedIn, X and Instagram to help to share news, updates and information about our work, as well as to engage with interested individuals and organisations.

We welcome everyone to engage with our content in a respectful and professional manner. We aim to maintain a welcoming environment across all our social media platforms.

Relevant and appropriate content

We operate a zero tolerance approach to abusive behaviour and will delete any such comments towards our staff or others. Frequent and deliberately misleading comments will also result in Scottish Forestry reviewing a person’s access to our channels.

Examples where posts might be deleted or result in an account being removed:

  • Comments that share harmful or misleading information about the activities of Scottish Forestry or its staff.
  • Comments that include name-calling, abuse or the sharing of personal information.
  • Comments unrelated to the original post, especially instances where unrelated comments are repeatedly posted.
  • Spam - please don’t sell commercial products or services.
  • Any accounts which falsely claim to represent a person or organisation.
  • Any posts that incite racial hatred or any other personal characteristics, including religion, gender, nationality or sexuality.

Content from other parties

Comments and replies on our social media channels that are not posted by Scottish Forestry do not necessarily reflect our views. While we aim to share credible and reliable content, sharing or interacting with third-party posts does not imply our endorsement of all their content.

Intellectual property and compliance

Users must respect intellectual property rights, including copyrights and trademarks. They must also comply with social media platform’s terms of service and applicable laws.
