In addition to complying with the UKFS woodland creation proposals seeking grant funding must also meet the grant scheme requirements. You can find out more about scoring on the Rural Payments and Services (RP&S) website.
Sustainable forest management should underpin your woodland creation plan. You will need to consider:
- management objectives
- guidelines for woodlands, tailored to your site's traits and the tree species you want to grow
- other environmental, economic, and social factors
The level of detail required will depend on the size and complexity of your proposal. Some of the stages below may not be applicable.
If you apply for grant funding, you will need to follow steps 1.1 and 1.2.
You may then either follow step 1.3 or, if there are no issues, go to step 1.4 and submit a grant application.
If you are unsure whether you will need an EIA report, please complete step 1.3 and request an EIA screening opinion.
If you are in any doubt, we recommend that you discuss what is required with your woodland officer.
