Our role in forestry activities

We regulate certain forestry activities in Scotland. That means we are required to assess and approve some plans before they can be undertaken.

If you want to carry out certain activities in forest and woodlands in Scotland you need to gain approval or consent from us.

As the forestry regulator, we have a duty to promote sustainable forest management.

To do this, we assess forestry plans and activities to ensure they meet different legal and best practice requirements.
