Topic: Manage forests

To ensure compliance with UK Forestry Standard, soils data collection may be required.

Soils data may also be needed to apply for:

  • felling permission
  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  • Forestry Grant Scheme support

Accurate soils data will help plan and manage a forest to increase its resilience to the risks posed by climate change.

Scotland’s soils website includes a section on using soils data to inform the response of a forest to climate change.
