Sub topic: Forest industry

Summary

Forestry Commission Scotland (now Scottish Forestry) and Forest Research (FR) initiated the network of Energy Forestry (EF) exemplar sites in September 2007. We have developed a programme of work to address the important information gaps on the growth and development of Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) and Short Rotation Forestry (SRF) in Scotland. The sites are also a practical, operational, demonstration of the potential for SRF and SRC. We will be use these exemplar sites to highlight the opportunities for these new crops to foresters and farmers.
